# Penal

> Penal is a free football prediction pool app for iOS and Android. Players predict match results, compete with friends, family or colleagues in private pools, and climb leaderboards. The app launched during Euro 2024 with around 10,000 participants and is gearing up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

## What Penal is

- A free mobile app (iOS + Android) for predicting football matches.
- A pool/league system: create or join a private pool with friends, family, colleagues, companies or sports clubs.
- A scoring engine: up to 55 points per match (winner/draw, home goals, away goals, goal difference, exact score), plus bonus questions and doublers.
- Multi-locale: Dutch (default), English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Turkish, Polish, Indonesian.

## Who builds Penal

- Built by Sebastiaan Pasma (development) and Arjan van Hulzen (concept and football side), based in Groningen, the Netherlands.
- Originated from in-person office pools that were digitalised after the 2024 European Championship.

## Pool packages (one-time per pool, no subscription)

- Basis (Basic): free. Unlimited participants, basic live scoreboard, global leaderboard.
- Prof / Pro: EUR 15,- one-time. Full live scoreboard, opponents' predictions visible after a match, detailed statistics, no ads.
- Club: EUR 75,- one-time. Everything in Pro plus sub-pools (departments / teams) and custom branding (logo). Designed for companies, associations and sports clubs.

Payments via Mollie: iDEAL/Wero, Bancontact, credit card, bank transfer.

## Supported competitions

- 2026 FIFA World Cup (primary focus).
- UEFA Champions League.
- After the World Cup: Eredivisie, Premier League, Bundesliga and more national leagues.
- Past edition: Euro 2024 (about 10,000 participants).
